Pastor Andrew serves as the senior Pastor of Zion. Prior to receiving the call to serve at Zion, he served at Zion Lutheran Church and School in Mayer, MN. His responsibilities at Zion include

the leadership of staff, teaching, preaching and strategic planning. A couple of his favorite Bible

verses come from Ephesians 2:20-21, and 3:11-13 He is married to Anna, and they are blessed

with two sons, William and Gideon. They enjoy being outside as much as possible, hiking,

fishing, and exploring. When they are not doing that, they enjoy spending time with people.

Pastor Bruce is a semi-retired Associate Pastor of Zion. He has been on the staff here since October 2017. In the fall of October 2022 he entered into his “new normal” of working 15 hours (or less) per week. He is involved in making visits; assists in worship services, and preaches about once a month. He leads some Bible classes and meets with members as needed. He has spent his entire ministry in the MN North district having had the privilege of serving God’s people in seven congregations. He is married to his supportive wife, Gwen, and they have been blessed with three children and 4 grandchildren. If you want to get a glimpse on his perspective on ministry, read 2 Cor. 5:14-5, 1 Cor. 15:58, and 1 Peter 3:15.

Pastor Dan provides care for congregants who are ill or home-bound. He also leads adult bible studies at Zion and ministers to congregations in the region. Pastor Dan has 50 years of experience in Pastoral Ministry in a Parish setting. He served as Senior Pastor at Zion from 1990 until 2009. He continues to care for many of Zion’s members. Pastor Dan is married to June.

Kelsey oversees and organizes office ministries including Sunday morning worship publications, volunteer teams, technology team (TechSperts), congregational records, church calendar, and other administrative tasks vital to the life of the church. Kelsey also develops, implements and sustains congregational communication programs along with supervising the ministry assistant and ensures staffing during office hours. Kelsey lives in Detroit Lakes. She is a member of the Detroit Lakes Morning Rotary. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, volleyball, cycling, and spending time with her dog, Harper. 

FAMILY LIFE COORDINATOR

Katelyn’s areas of focus are Family Ministry and Life Groups. Under these two categories she oversees Sunday School, Family Vacation Bible School, and various Zion events. She works with Zion families to understand their needs and struggles and use it to form ministry events and Life Groups. Katelyn is married to Thomas and they are blessed with two wonderful kids, Peyton and Danica. In her free time, she enjoys going on outdoor adventures with her family, reading, and craft nights with her friends.

Brenda supports the daily operations of the church, often greeting visitors at the front desk and assisting the staff and ministry teams in various capacities. Before retiring, Brenda dedicated over 30 years to SJE, holding several positions, with her final role being Executive Assistant to the CEO. In retirement, she maintains an active lifestyle, managing a football field-sized garden, mowing a large yard, and enjoying her family. She is married to Gene, and they are blessed with five grandchildren

Wendy takes care of all financial aspects of Zion DL. She is married to Travis and lives on Little Cormorant Lake. They have 5 children, Shane, Leah, Jack, Zack and Jadyn. Before coming to Zion Lutheran Church, Wendy worked at Pro Systems as Office/Payroll Manager for over 30 years. She enjoys traveling (she is an independent Travel Agent with Travel Leaders), swimming, boating, reading, and dance classes at the DLCCC.

Genesis manages and cares for our facility and grounds. She was born in Fargo, ND and slowly moved around as a child. Her and her mother, Rhonda, moved here in 2017 to be closer to her grandparents and to help out on the family farm. She recently had her first child, Marina. She enjoys the outdoors, reading, crafting, and spending time with her family.

Nick joins us from the DAC and assists our Facility Coordinator with vacuuming the sanctuary.
